mTrack Powers 7 Hydramec UMS Installations on Fugro’s Blue Essence® USVs

mtrack AHC Controller and Hydramec Umbilical management system

Scantrol has been involved in all Hydramec UMS (Umbilical Management Systems) installations deployed on Fugro Blue Essence® USVs,.

Across these projects, mTrack Active Heave Compensation controllers are used to control the Umbilical Management Systems, enabling safe and reliable remote launch and recovery of electric ROVs in fully unmanned offshore operations.

Hydramec’s UMS designed for autonomous operation has a total weight of ~780kg, including up to 540m of umbilical cable,

By enabling precise winch and umbilical control without offshore personnel onboard, the solution contributes to:

  • Reduced HSSE exposure

  • Lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions

  • Reliable and repeatable subsea operations from uncrewed vessels

Over the past few years, Scantrol has become a key contributor in the USV market, with more than 30 control systems delivered for unmanned surface vessels, developed and validated in close collaboration with operators such as Fugro.

The mTrack controller combines factory calibration, integrated motion sensing, and proven AHC functionality, making it well suited for UMS applications in remote and autonomous operations.
