Scantrol and Hydraspec Join Forces to Upgrade Deck Cranes for Offshore Use

At Nor-Shipping 2025, Scantrol formalized a partnership agreement with Kristiansand-based Hydraspec, a specialist in hydraulic solutions and in upgrading deck cranes to offshore-ready systems. This collaboration brings together Scantrol’s industry-leading Active Heave Compensation (AHC) systems and Hydraspec’s expertise in hydraulic engineering and offshore crane retrofits.

Scantrol, one of the leading suppliers of AHC systems, delivers plug-and-play AHC controllers that improve safety and precision in offshore lifting and subsea operations. The mTrack AHC controller is an affordable solution with an integrated Motion Reference Unit (MRU), and is widely used on both electric and hydraulic winches for subsea operations

Hydraspec, part of the TESS group, has made significant investments to expand its operations, tripling workshop space and scaling up capabilities to meet rising demand from the maritime, offshore, and industrial sectors. With in-house specialists and mobile service teams, they offer comprehensive hydraulic system services and complete cylinder maintenance and repair.

 First AHC Installation in June

The first joint project is already scheduled for delivery in June. The rapid rollout is made possible by Scantrol’s standardized mTrack solution, which allows for fast commissioning and integration without the need for external experts.
