Scantrol's SYM7 LT System Achieves Remarkable Success in First Installations

The first installations of Scantrol's SYM7 LT system have been met with resounding success. The Western Dawn, a renowned vessel in the fishing industry, has taken a significant step forward by upgrading from the Pentagon LT system to the advanced Scantrol SYM7 in October 2023. This upgrade marks a pivotal moment in the vessel's operational capabilities, setting a new standard in the industry.

The installation process was expertly handled by GS Marine, a company revered for its in-depth knowledge of maritime technology and specific expertise with the Western Dawn's existing Rapp winches. Their proficiency ensured a seamless integration of the SYM7 LT system, paving the way for enhanced efficiency and control in the vessel's trawling operations.

During the Pacific Marine Expo 2023 held in Seattle, Scantrol and GS Marine had the opportunity to meet with Western Dawn’s skipper, Chris Jr. Peterson. Peterson shared insightful feedback about the SYM7 system, particularly praising its enhanced control capabilities over trawling operations. A standout feature for Peterson was the SYM7’s turn function, which has notably improved the vessel’s maneuverability and efficiency, especially during critical trawling maneuvers.

Furthermore, Peterson expressed keen interest in the SYM7’s innovative SymmetryControl tow mode. This advanced feature promises to revolutionize trawling by automatically adjusting wire lengths, ensuring optimal trawl positioning even under challenging conditions like sloping seabeds or unpredictable tides.

The Scantrol SYM7 system garnered significant attention at the Pacific Marine Expo, meeting numerous vessel owners and skippers who have been onboard on Western Dawn to witness its capabilities firsthand. The positive response and the robust partnership between Scantrol, GS Marine, Jamie Greeves, and Johann have positioned the SYM7 as a highly regarded solution within the Seattle and Alaska trawling fleets.

Excitingly, the F/T Nicole will be the next vessel to upgrade from the Pentagon to the SYM7 system. Additionally, there are strong indications that several other vessels are considering this upgrade, demonstrating the growing interest in Scantrol's advanced trawling technology.
